Sudanese American Soccer Federation for Youth Development (SASF)
About Us
SASF is a non-profit organization registered under the United States Non-Profit Organizations Act. It was founded in 2002. Since its inception, the Federation has worked to organize cultural, educational, and social sports events aimed at strengthening ties between members of the Sudanese American community and strengthening their connection to their homeland by reviving authentic Sudanese customs and traditions within a framework that is integrated with American culture.
The Federation organizes an annual cultural and social sports tournament, held in a different state each year, reflecting its extensive reach within the United States. The Federation also organizes special tribute events outside the annual tournament to celebrate prominent and influential figures in the community's history.
Vision and Goals:
Primary Goals:
To connect the younger generations of the community with their Sudanese culture and societal values.
To integrate members of the community into their American environment and enhance their interaction with their local communities.
Developing youth's athletic and academic skills, and opening up scholarship opportunities through sports activities.
Organizing awareness-raising and recreational events that strengthen family and community bonds within the community.
Future Vision:
Establishing an integrated sports, cultural, educational, and social academy to serve members of the Sudanese American community throughout the United States and serve as a platform for promoting identity, belonging, and distinction.
Programs and Agreements
In addition to organizing local events, SASF is keen to expand its influence internationally through strategic partnerships, most notably the agreement signed with the Sudanese Football Association, which aims to provide the Sudanese national teams with distinguished football talent from members of the community at various age groups. This cooperation reflects the association's commitment to serving Sudanese sports at home and abroad.
Previous Events and Tournaments
Since its founding in 2002, SASF has organized numerous annual sports tournaments that bring together dozens of teams from various US states. These tournaments serve as a unifying platform for members of the Sudanese American community, blending sports, culture, and community engagement.
